Are there different types of Electrolysis? There are in fact 3 different modalities of removal methods for Electrolysis.
* Galvanic – ( direct current ) - the hair follicle root is destroyed by a chemical reaction.
* Thermolysis – ( high frequency ) – the hair follicle root is destroyed by heat production
* Blend – a combination of the above two modalities where the hair follicle root is destroyed by both heat and chemical action at the same time.
Is Electrolysis Permanent? Electrolysis’ permanency has been well recognized by knowledgeable physicians and is the only approved method by the FDA. Electrolysis requires a series of treatments given over a period of time. The length of time for each session varies from person to person depending on the hair’s density and coarseness. It may also depend on the area of the body where the removal will take place and the consistency of the treatments. Many hairs will be removed permanently after the first treatment while some will require additional treatments. Treatments will be more frequent in the beginning and less frequent later on.
Is Electrolysis Safe? Electrolysis is in fact one of the safest methods of hair removal. Electrologists utilize the most up-to-date, effective methods of sterilization, disinfection and antisepsis, and following guidelines set up by a major electrolysis organization in conjunction with the CDC.
What areas can be treated? Some common areas Electrolysis can be used but are not limited to include the upper/lower lip, chin, back, chest, abdomen, arms, legs, and bikini line. Each area requires a different amount of time to achieve full permanency.
Is Electrolysis Painful? Whether there is any discomfort from the procedures depends on a patients tolerance, the machine’s settings and the modalities used. During treatments, a definite sensation should be noticed. The can vary from “slight heat”, “tingling” or perhaps a “stinging” sensation. Your electrologist is trained to work with the comfort tolerance of his/her patients.
Is Electolysis Expensive? Our electrolysis pricing begins at a minimal amount of $25 and goes to $75 depending on the time for each session. Considering all factors, Electrolysis is very cost effective and reasonable when it comes to pricing. When compared to other methods of hair removal, many need to keep in mind that it is in fact permanent.
